From the Desk of Bro. Kevin

One of my favorite Christian songs is “The Great Adventure” by Steven Curtis Chapman.  Here is part of the song:

“Saddle up your horses, we've got a trail to blaze

Through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace

Let's follow our leader into the glorious unknown

This is a life like no other, whoa whoa this is the great adventure

We'll travel long, over mountains so high

We'll go through valleys so low

Still through it all we'll find that

This is the greatest journey that the human heart will ever see

The love of God will take us far beyond our wildest dreams”

My family and I are starting this new Great Adventure with the Central Baptist Family.  We are excited about the opportunity to make new friends, make new experiences, and make new memories.  It has been a busy time since my call to Central Baptist was made official:  saying goodbye to First Baptist, packing up the house, working on selling our house, buying a new house, finding Paula a new job, trying to have a normal summer, and beginning to think and pray through where God wants to take Central Baptist in this New and Exciting Great Adventure.

As I start this new adventure with Central Baptist with being a part of Vacation Bible School, I believe there is no better way to jumpstart this church family than taking the energy and excitement from Vacation Bible School and

having it overflow into the life of the church.  I appreciate the work and commitment that Bro. Billy invested into this church family for 20 years and the wise transitional work of Bro. Stan for the last six months.  I believe God has prepared the Central Baptist Family to reach the PRC area in a more effective way and have a stronger  presence in the community.  I believe God has called all of us to Connect Others to God and Central Baptist,  Grow in Our Faith and Relationship with God and Others, Serve God, the Church and Community, and Go share the Gospel with the PRC community.

I hope you are ready to join me on this Great Adventure as we take the life changing message of Jesus Christ to the PRC community and beyond.  There is no better journey than the one God has set out for the Central Baptist family than the one we will see in the coming weeks, months, and years.  So saddle up and get ready for this exciting ride.

MUSIC MINISTRY

I am excited at the things that God is doing here at our church.  Our Sunday School attendance is growing, we are back in our discipleship classes, after a long time.  Our people are getting back in church, it is good, as we have a lot of work to do for Jesus.  Also we welcome Bro. Kevin and his family as he comes as our Pastor.  We are looking for some great and exciting things for us all.  Remember, God inhabits our praise, so let’s start doing more praising.  God Bless us all!!      Bro. Danny

YOUTH MINISTRY

I am writing this the day after a full week of camp consisting of worship, group devotional time, and fun. One of the major points of the week emphasized the importance of the Bible. The Bible is inerrant, powerful, and active. At the end of the week, we were asked about our love for God’s Word. This was a convicting moment all around the room. I was convicted. May we never be too busy to spend time in God’s Word. Again, thank you for your prayers for the Student Ministry.              Bro. Cory

Since COVID and all the drama surrounding it, I have not spent much time watching the news. Today, I decided to turn on the local news and all I found was bad news- violence, racism, politics...gloom and doom! I quickly turned the t.v off! As I thought about the depressing state of our world, the old hymn we used to sing every Sunday came to mind- "Praise God from whom all blessings flow..." This Doxology began in the Medieval Ages during the worst of the plagues; it was a song to remind Christians to praise God, regardless of their circumstances. As with these Middle Ages brothers and sisters, we need to constantly praise God for the "many things he has done"!

As always, I encourage you to serve where God leads- we have so many opportunities! Some of our current projects include

-  shoebox ministry

- CBC food pantry

- school supplies collection

- "Feed the Children" mission ministry

On a final note, due to the 4th of July being close to our luncheon date we have decided to eat out on Thursday, July 8. Details will be sent with your monthly newsletter.

Love all of you and count you as my blessings!!!!! Reva
