“Building The Greatest Church Since Pentecost”
May 2022
Ever since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, men and women have been straddled with a sin problem. In summary, according to scripture: a) we are conceived in sin, b) we come out of the womb speaking lies, c) we die because we are sinners, d) persons without the knowledge of good or evil do not yet have sin imputed to them, and e) our sin separates us from God leaving us in a condition described as lost and condemned. The good news is this: “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10) After His death, burial and resurrection, just before His ascension, Jesus commissioned us, His followers, to preach the forgiveness of sins in his name to everyone. Romans 10 explains that people are saved by calling on the Lord Jesus Christ and believing in their heart that God has raised Him from the dead. However, they cannot call upon one in whom they have not believed and they cannot believe in one of whom they have not heard. Moreover, they cannot hear unless someone shares the good news of forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Therefore, as followers of Jesus Christ, we have a weighty responsibility to share the good news with everyone. Let me leave you with a stanza of a song by James Rowe, “You Never Mentioned Him to Me.”
When in the better land, before the bar we stand, how deeply grieved our souls may be, If any lost one there should cry in deep despair, “You never mentioned Him to me.”

MUSIC MINISTRY
Psalm 100 is a favorite of mine and most of the gospel musicians I've known. There are many interpretations of what "make a joyful noise to the Lord" means. Today, different churches translate it to mean everything from concert-like music to piano or acappella traditional hymns only; many have chosen a blend of both. There is probably nothing more discussed by church members than the style, volume, and quantity of music. I imagine the ancient Isrealites may have been surprised when Aaron's sister Miriam took a timbrel and started singing and dancing praises to the Lord!
I love music-playing and singing 40's quartet music through today's praise songs. But, worship is not about performance; it is showing God and others what is in our heart. He wants us to be joyful, for this is how we experience it. Galatians tells us that joy is the fruit of the Spirit- it goes beyond happiness; we must seek God rather than our own contentment.
This Sunday, regardless of the style of music, worship God with joy! It's important!

If you missed our April Young at Heart luncheon, you missed a lot of fun! We had a picnic-style lunch and an Easter bonnet contest with many beautiful and unusual creations. Tara challenged our minds with an activity, so fun was had by all!
As I was watching the fellowship involved in our meeting, I had to stop and thank God for the wonderful group of seniors Central has! Each one has a life of purpose- they make the best out of everything, good or bad. Each one takes pride in their family, friends, and loved ones and love to share news about them with others. I also noticed they live in the present; not once did I hear anyone dragging up past hurts or disappointments. They exude love, happiness, and joy in the Lord! Many of them are examples for others because they do not believe in "retirement of Christian service"- they are faithful in their service to the Lord, whether leading music, praying for others, serving on committees, working with children, teaching Sunday School, or making meals and visiting sick members. They share their life experiences with others and never hesitate to talk about Jesus Christ- they have a genuine heart of love! Central, we are so very blessed and can learn much from this special group of folks.
Our next meeting will be May 3rd at Sherral's Diner in Carriere. We have reservations for 11:00, so bring your appetites! If you need a ride, the van will leave the church at 10:45. Invite a friend and come on!!!!!!!
Love you all! Reva
